We're fun and friendly, and we like languages. We also happen to be queer (mostly lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, open minded straight). We're an inclusive group. We don't make people take a test to see if they're lesbian or gay enough. If you're not hetero-normative (to use the academic buzzword), you're welcome to come. Friendly people (gay, straight, whatever) are fine.
Do you want to meet with other queer people for an hour or two of conversation? Then you've found the right group. For any given language, we usually meet about once per month, most often for some activity and then conversation. The activity might be a movie, a concert, watching or playing a sport, having dinner.
We've already got groups for Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and French, and we'd like to add more. How about ESL (English as a Second Language), Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Japanese, German?
We're open to all levels. Our rules are simple: 1) be kind and 2) try to use only the target language. Groups will have a mixture of native speakers, advanced non-native speakers, and intermediate level speakers. If you have to use an occasional word in English, that's fine.
I'll be out of town for both November and December MeetUps, so I won't be able to host. If anyone can host and would like to, please email me with a suggested time, location and date. I'll then set up the MeetUp.
