In a small Italian village, the flirtatious Adina prefers a swaggering soldier to the shy Nemorino who is smitten with her. A traveling quack offers the love-sick man an "elixir of love" to solve his problem. Drunk with love and the elixir (really just plain-old red wine), Nemorino stumbles his way to win Adina’s heart! Directed by Atlanta audience favorite David Gately with the anticipated return of soprano Leah Partridge.

Sung in Italian with English supertitles projected above the stage. www.atlantaopera.org

Jennie McNulty and Vickie Shaw are coming to Atlanta for an evening of comedy. The show starts at 8 pm. We'll meet up at 7:30 and maybe have tapas and drinks after the show.

General Admission tickets are $20.
Advance tickets available through Brown Paper Tickets at

Jennie McNulty’s humor is smart, quick and hysterically funny. Her playfully sarcastic style and easy delivery engages every crowd. Whether calling on crazy life experiences or something the audience just said, her material is refreshingly unique and her show is full of laughter and guaranteed fun. The New England Blade called her “One of the premiere female comedians in the country.” www.jenniemcnulty.com

Vickie Shaw returns to Houston with her slow paced (she’s southern), incredibly endearing, (she’s southern), sharp, don’t mess with her (she’s southern!), comedy. Vickie doesn’t have to go far from home for material – as a recovering SoB (Southern Baptist) and out lesbian mother, she’s successfully raised two sons (one of whom is married and just gave her a “two perfect grandaughters”), has a college daughter and all of them are living at home in the “Compound”, and a “husbian” in Sgt. Patch. Yeah there’s enough material there to fill a few hours. Vickie has performed in almost every State in the US, and had headlined in too many venues to list here but trust us, this girl’s been around. www.vickieshaw.com

In this hilarious musical romp, Heartsville High is a place where gay is the norm and straight is, well, not! The school is turned on its ear when a boy and girl fall in love. Happy Sumo II - Dunwoody is Atlanta's premier Japanese dining experience. It is a superb Japanese restaurant with an upscale mode. They serve traditional and exotic Japanese food with a dose of modern comfort. www.happysumorest.com

Offering teppanyaki cooking (where food is prepared on a hot grill in front of you), the show is almost as wonderful as the meal. Both the quality and generous portions are impressive.

I'm asking everyone to be considerate of the restaurant reservation and preparation and keep their RSVP updated.
