The reference to grape varietals is most often superceded by the region?s intricate soil characteristics and the glorious amount of wood aging (grapes are not even listed on the labels, but regions and aging terms are!) THE RESULT: countless layers of flavors that usually leave the drinker speechless. Taste the reds and whites of Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and Rueda and learn the difference between Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva wood aging.
